I love Scooby-Doo, but will have to go with the cats on this one. I adore Puss in Boots.

Cujo would eat all those cats! Dogs for sure.

Always cats......how about Salem, the cat on the tv show Sabrina? He had real catitude.

Colette Martin said...

Dogs.

Cat in the Hat and Scooby.

But, what about birds? Tweety anyone?

I like Mrs. Murphy, the cat from Rita Mae Brown's mysteries ("co-written" with her own cat, Sneaky Pie Brown), and Tee Tucker, the Welsh corgi from the same books.

Laura Eno said...

Since my partners in crime include both it's hard to choose. One "cat" not on the list is Tigger, one of my faves. But I have a dog who acts like him so it's a blender deal. :)

Hey Carol! Your link is there in my sidebar - Ninja Army One, near the top. Just clicked on it to get here!

Love these. Snoopy & Scooby are my favourite dogs. Sylvester & Pink P are my cats :)

Since you have Cujo in the dogs category I think they will win any fictional duals...unless they're in a forest where the cats can get away. And yes, that was way too literal but it's still early for me!

I'm Scooby and Cat in the Hat, all the way!! Happy Friday:)

CarrieBoo said...

More of a dog person, but I'm quite partial to Garfield, and for the dogs, Snoopy. :)

I'm not much on cats, but I do like Felix--very retro.

There have been some great dog stories and really bad ones as well. In your list I'll go with Cujo, but a big nix on Marmaduke. I grew up with Lassie and Rin Tin Tin--two sentimental favorites.

There's so many aren't there?
Also Top cat and his gang, Crookshanks

Huckleberry Hound, Deputy Dawg.

Not sure who's my fav.

Awesome! I love Garfield and Odie.

Hey Carol. I'll take Garfield and Scoobydoo! :)

P.S. "In Name Only" was AWESOME. That is truly a novel to be proud of. Held my attention to the very end (which I cannot say for previous two novels I read). Also loved how you handled the setting and multiple POV.

Applause!

Diane - Purrfectly OK. I'm staying neutral :)

Alex - Of course you choose Cujo, LOL. And I did spot my link after you pointed it out, says the one who could never find Easter eggs either.

Delores - I remember Salem :)

Colette - What other birds besides Tweety? Oh, Heckle and Jeckle. Who else?

Linda G - Gotta love Sneaky Pie :)

Hart Johnson said...

Cheshire cat... though I love the Shrek version of Puss.

And Scooby Doo was my FAVORITE as a kid, though only the original incarnation--I don't like the updated stuff or any of the additional dogs.

In terms of real life animals, i LIKE both, but consider myself more a cat person.

I can't choose between dogs and cats, I love them both to pieces.

I think my favorites in the fictional categories would be Cat in the Hat and Benji. When I saw Benji when I was a kid I totally wanted to bring him home with me. :)

Have a great weekend, Carol!

Carol Kilgore said...

Laura - Luv Tigger! I'm staying neutral :)

Jemi - I love both, too.

Johanna - Literal is OK :)

Linda K - Cool!

CarrieBoo - I love both, but am really allergic to the meowers.

Carol Kilgore said...

Arlee - My mother thought Felix was very suave. That's why he's on my list :)

Madeleine - And others have listed more. So many :)

Clarissa - Poor Odie :)

LR - Thank you for the applause and wonderful words. I'm glad you liked it.

Hart - I can't imagine anyone not liking Scoobey.

Julie - Benji was a cutie.

Thanks for the follow, Carol.

When I was very little I was banned from watching Lassie, because I used to cry so much! Having said that, I'm more of a cat girl now.

Ciara said...

I think the dogs make movies, but Garfield made the best cartoon.

The Golden Eagle said...

Dogs. Though there are some interesting cats, too.

Carol Kilgore said...

Annalisa - Thanks so much for stopping by. Truth...husband was watching an old B/W Lassie movie a couple weeks ago on TV. I had to walk out because my eyes were threatening to leak.

Ciara - Such a fat cat :)

Golden Eagle - Since you're an eagle, I'm not surprised you're a dog person :)

I loved the Pink Panther - so very cool - and Simba the White Lion was one of my favorites (I'm surprised anyone even remembers that old cartoon!). But Lassie was pretty cool/smart and Snoopy always seemed wise so ...it's a toss up - which is why I have both cats and a dog (I'd have another dog if I had more room and more time!).

Maryann Miller said...

I love cats and dogs, so it i hard to pick a favorite. I loved the collies that Albert Terhune wrote about, but I can't remember their names. Always loved Morris the cat in those cat-food commercials.

welcome to my world of poetry said...

I love dogs and cats, I would choose the dog Sheba who we had for 16 years, and Tabitha my diabetic cat who was a great comfort to my after my husband passed away. sadly both are gone but not forgotten.

Yvonne.

Talli Roland said...

Hm... I'm going to have to go for team cats! Yay!

Although Snoopy was always my favourite from your lists, for me, I'm afraid, it always has to be

Carol Kilgore said...

mshatch - I love them both, too, but I'm allergic to cats.

Maryann - Morris was really cool :)

Yvonne - Our pets become our family after a while.

Talli - Lots of you out there!

Lyn - Purrr-fectly OK :)

Puss in Boots vs. Cujo -- cage match of the century!

Carol Kilgore said...

Milo - LOL! I'll get the tickets printed; you sell them :)

Lynda R Young said...

Cats all the way, although scooby doo is pretty awesome.

Old Kitty said...

Whaddya mean fictional?!!? They're all real!! Yes they are!!

I am partial to Firefighter Doggie and Cat Kodi who takes his human for a walk (it's so on youtube - Kodi the cat!!!). Ahem!

Take care
x

Carol Kilgore said...

Lynda - Good save, LOL!

Old Kitty - I've been trying to watch Kodi, but YouTube is being a pain today. I'll try later.

Southpaw said...

I say cats! The Pink Panther my favorite. In the dog category it is SNOOPY! I am actually wearing a Snoopy shirt right now.

Raquel.Somatra said...

Oh, my goodness. Love this post.

I ADORE Garfield. The special holiday shows are my favorite and bring back special childhood memories. :)

And for similar reasons, LOVE Snoopy. Can't decide which one is my favorite.

Carol Kilgore said...

Southpaw - Great pair!

Raquel - I think everyone loves Snoopy :)

michelle said...

For me it's definitely doggies!
A toss up between good old classic Lassie... and who can resist the fun-loving Scooby Doo?

Carol Kilgore said...

Michelle - Doggies are so sweet. Just ask my two, and they'll tell you :) Luv Scooby!

Janet, said...

I liked this top ten! I love Garfield and Snoopy and Winn Dixie.

Carol Kilgore said...

Janet - All winners in my book!
