My neighbor kills me with the lawnmower. He picks the weirdest times to mow--but it always seems like when I'm outside trying to relax. LOL

Ahh. I'm glad it's summer. Even if it IS freaking hot.

I'm always game for a trip to the beach, see you there :)
You forgot unbearable heat and humidity!

No, she forgot the ice cream man (jingle, jingle...). :)

I love the sound of thunder. Had plenty of it this week. Have a great weekend!

Jennifer - What is it about men and mowing the lawn? One of my neighbors mows on Thursday - every Thursday. Grass hasn't grown? Doesn't matter, he mows. I have seen him mow in the rain...because it's Thursday - LOL.

Linda - We had a long streak of 100+ days. Now we're on a mid-90s run.

Joanne - Yes! Gulls and all :)

Alex - They bring 4-letter-word sounds - LOL.

LR - I did! Should have remembered.
Love it! I think I'll trade the mosquitos for the sound of clinking margarita glasses together. Is that a summer sound? =)

mosquitos are the worst- I actually had one get in the house the other night and it woke my up with that annoying buzz. Have a great weekend.

I was personally offended when I learned it's the female mosquito that bites. I hate 'em. They adore me. Nasty critters.

Great list, although I'd add leaf blowers to #4. Since so few leaves fall in summer, I wonder why I hear so many of the horrible things?

I so missed your top ten during my blog hiatus!!!

Where we live - no lawns, so no lawnmowers. And thanks for sharing your Galveston photos at my blog! They're wonderful.

Miss GOP - Here in San Antonio, clinking Margarita glasses is a year-round sound :)

Lydia - Me, too. Especially when I'm trying to go to sleep. I made myself a note to find you :)

Summer - See above - LOL. Weekends rock!

Elspeth - The nasty critters adore me, too.

VR - They use leaf blowers instead of sweeping. I missed your blog, too.

Terry - A mower might pull you along right down one of those hills. And thanks for having me on your blog!

There's been a lot of thunder around here--so lots of rain, too! This area is soaked.

Great list! :)
I think TX and NC have a lot in common. :)

Ann - I love photos, too.

Golden Eagle - Not much rain except for an awesome thunderstorm and lightning display the other night.

Elizabeth - I think so, too.

Great list, Carol. We finally have summer here as of Wednesday. I'm hoping all the rain we had has moved to Texas and destroys your drought!
Love your list, especially the sound of children's laughter!
I'd add the sounds of humingbirds, bees and pop tops on cans of beer.
Carol Kilgore said…
Conda - Yea for summer! I hope your rain spreads itself out over our state, too.

Donna - How could I forget hummers? We have a lot. And pop tops! Duh. I needed two lists :)

Hi Carol. Did anyone mention the sound of crickets at night? When it's not too unbearably hot and humid (and even when it is) I sometimes open the bedroom window a little, so I can fall asleep to that sound. Reminds me of my childhood....all those open windows, no a/c....
Carol Kilgore said…
Becky - You're the first! Y'all are giving me enough for a second list :)

Splashes of water sound good to me! Hot and humid in London today. Have a great weekend!
Carol Kilgore said…
Talli - Same weather here in San Antonio.
Amen to the number sound of summer!
Ah . . . I leaped before I looked. Amen to all, but especially to the number #1 sound of summer!
Carol Kilgore said…
No worries. I've done that myself a time or two or more :)

Sounds like a great list except for those lawnmowers. Especially EARLY in the morning!

Why DO they do that?
