And the number one reason for sleeping in:

Fell asleep unintentionally reading a book!
Two more good ones. Thanks.
I love your list, but the better is because you could...lol
Sometimes I've slept in for all 10 reasons!
Ack! I wish I could sleep in. Even if I go out to a bar and come home at 4 a.m., I still wake up at the usual 7 a.m. hour.
Um. Not that I've ever done that. But if I did...
I'm a morning person and feel all out of sorts if I do manage to sleep in.
Now, that doesn't mean that I get up and rush about the day. I will get a cup of coffee, turn on the news and read the paper or write until much later in the morning.
Do you need a reason? I think not. Go forth, lie down upon thy sleeping surface and wake when ready, not when the cursed alarm forces you unto wakefulness.
Not every day, of course. But sometimes. For fun. (wow, this suddenly tells me how dull my life is. Nifty.)
Sometimes I go a whole long day without writing a word and then finally inspiration strikes at 9:30 p.m.
Being self-employed gives me the luxury of staying up when the notion strikes and catching up the next morning.
I do love the 'because I could' reason. That's my usual reason for sleeping in the first day of holidays.
Jamara - Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Glad you enjoyed the Top Ten.
Conda - I think I have, too.
Marisa - Alas, I'm a nightowl by nature.
Elspeth - When I do sleep in and wake up late I'm like, "I can't believe I did that."
Kathy - Inspiration usually strikes mid-afternoon for me. Until then I mostly plod.
Cassandra - Me, too :)
I love your list. Just wish I could enjoy sleeping in one morning, but with a certain cat I have there is no such luck.
I once had a cat that slept on me. When I turned over she'd growl. Every morning she'd be sitting on my chest when I woke up. And when I opened my eyes she'd go, "Mwrr." I think that meant "get your lazy butt outta bed."
I think "because I could" should be reason enough for doing anything!
I'm a night person, but the dog really doesn't think I should sleep in. sigh.
Love the list. I used to sleep in because I stayed up to 2 or 3 a.m. writing. I'm actually getting up early (for me) now.

Laura - When our pets say it's time to rise and shine, most of the time it's impossible to turn over and tell them to go away.
Helen - I'd love to totally go with my body rhythms, but I think I'd eventually get so out of sync with even myself that I'd have to start all over. Usually if I'm still up by 12:30 or 1, I make myself go to bed.
